“Mom had a dream. A dream that one day, all the world would be seasoning their food with her secret, gourmet seasoning. She chose to begin that dream with a small burger shop in Hoquiam, Washington. Her “dear husband” did better than that. In 1968, he built her a small restaurant on a big lot. He was the chef, while she had the creativity and time to embellish all of his dishes with her secret seasonings.

There was an immediate buzz among patrons curious to know what made everything taste so good. Even the split pea soup became a gourmet item. After some time, our humble Mom finally revealed that they sprinkled her secret seasoning on nearly all dishes. Customers began to beg for the recipe, but she held her secret. When they persisted, she agreed to make a big batch and bottle it to sell, however with a business to run and a family of 6, she never had the time.

Before our Mom passed in 2000, she revealed the recipe to us and we have chosen to fulfill her dream. Not a meal has passed without her seasoning lovingly added to our fare.

We now invite you to share our family’s pursuit of great food–and enjoy Ila’s Foods: 42 products, at this date. These are all hand crafted, made in small batches, using fresh, local produce. We are very proud of our creations and value every customer who tries our original flavors.”
